Teak

TeakThe Teak- tree (scientific: Tectona grandis, also known as: Indian Oak) is a tree up to 50 meters height from the family of the labiates.
The cross section dimension is in between 40 and 100 centimeters. Until the height about 20 meters, its stem is branchless.

The very sizable leaves are up to 75 centimeters long and formed elliptical. The cohesiveness of its wood is comparable with an European Oak.

Teakwood is coloured from yellow to tawny, and on furnitures it’s getting after several years a characterisitcal light-grey colouration, also known as patina. The wood is extremly keen and grave, but it has a long evity.

It is used for example for: Furniture, floors and the shipbuilding. Furthermore the wood is conveted, because it is able to withstand insect attacks and weathering for centuries.
